Emotional Intelligence – Weekly Round-Up

How emotionally intelligent are you? Understanding your level of emotional intelligence is an important piece to creating a life you love. Not only for yourself as a person but in your relationships as well. And for your relationships, it’s important to look for a partner who is also emotionally intelligent. Check out our posts for today’s weekly round-up for more thought provoking pieces related to emotional intelligence.

1. Interesting research! While the headline mentions successful marriages happen when husbands are emotionally intelligent, the study actually highlights that it’s important for both people in a relationship to allow themselves to be influence their decision making. Women tend to be better at this than men so the more men can learn to do this, the better the chances they have for a lasting relationship. 2. LIFE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The misunderstanding is that in order to be successful, we have to have a knock out, drag out fight against each other because there is only one “top spot.” However, the reality is your success is not dependent on what someone else does. Focusing on running your own race and not trying to beat each other to the finish line is what places you on the path to success. Remember your success and my success are not mutually exclusive; there is enough happiness for all of us. Ready to work on getting on the road to your success? • Yes, I believe that women are better at being emotionally intelligent. However, I also believe that men can get there too with commitment and understanding. My husband and I are high school sweethearts. We have literally grown up together. With that came growth in our emotions and communication. 27 years later, we are still working on it. The work is ongoing, but that is how it should be. We pre-date Tinder, so I can’t really speak on it. But I do know a few people who found true love through online dating.
