Wake Up And Stop Settling
Freedom takes courage.
When I sat down to write my new book, A Single Woman’s Wake-Up Call, I thought a lot about how challenging it is to be set free from the things that bring you down, that keep you chained up, that cause you to stay stuck in the past. It is so difficult to break the cycle and begin to rebuild, recover and reconnect.
But when you harness your inner strength to really, truly look at who you are, your patterns, your past and admit that you want more, you can release yourself from that cycle.
That, simply put, is the single woman’s wake-up call: You don’t need to settle for a life of mediocre relationships, jobs or family. You can have more.
I have worked with countless women who continue to make mistake after mistake in their lives, careers and relationships because of the trauma they have suffered in their past. Maybe they were left or neglected by their parents. Maybe they were abused. Maybe they had a partner who cheated or treated them disrespectfully.
No matter their past trauma, it is causing them to stumble through their life. They make bad decisions — the same bad decisions over and over — not because they do not want better for themselves, but because some part of them feels they don’t deserve better. Deep down they feel they really do not matter, and if they don’t matter, then they believe their decisions do not matter.
And that is the farthest thing from the truth.
You may not even realize it (or maybe you do), but this may be you. Maybe you haven’t delved into your past hurt or realized how much it is affecting you, and maybe you have never acknowledged your lack of self belief. But if you find yourself repeating the same bad decisions over and over, you probably have some self discovery — and some reading — to do.
I want you to know that despite your not-so-pretty history, you can achieve anything you want. You just need to let go of the past through forgiveness. When you forgive those who hurt you, you take your power back and you can begin to create the life you want. It does not matter who left you, who didn’t love you, who hurt you. You can still reach your destiny in life.
And I can say this because I am no different from you — and I want you to feel empowered knowing that if I can do it, you can do it.
I know feeling empowered does not come easy. You don’t just wake up one day and everything in your life changes.
That’s exactly why I wrote A Single Woman’s Wake-Up Call, because this type of healing is a journey, and it’s a journey that I have taken. I’ve seen the winding path, and I’ve discovered what happens when you reach the destination (spoiler: it’s amazing!).
I know it is difficult to forgive those who hurt you, abandoned you and betrayed you, but there are no other options if you truly want to free yourself. Otherwise, you risk living in an unending cycle of dysfunction — just like the people who hurt you.
It is okay to want something different for your life. I want something different for your life, and I am ready to help you. But you have to want it, you have to be the one to stand up for yourself and change your life.
When you read A Single Woman’s Wake-Up Call, I want you to gain skills to think clearly about your life, to set goals and to have the intention to reach your goals. I want you to know how to take time for yourself and to stay true to yourself. Most of all, I want you to gain courage. As Maya Angelou says, “Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can’t practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.”
For some of you, courage may seem impossible. That’s because you have not seen other women who have come from where you have come from and make it out successfully. Or if you have, you assume “those” women are different from you. Which is why it was so important for me to write this book: So you can have a healthy model and so you do not have any more excuses. You can look at my life and see someone just like you, someone who had the strength to create the life she wanted.
And you can do the same. You can be it all. You can be truthful to yourself, you can be supportive, you can be loving, you can be compassionate and courageous. When you become all of these things, your inner light will create confidence that will shine through and attract goodness. That’s when you can have it all — you can have the things that truly make you happy. Once you forgive the pain and take steps to align your outlook with your goals, you can embrace fabulous career opportunities, relationships, family experiences and all the amazing new friends you are attracting.
So are you ready for your wake-up call? It is time you discovered the secrets to letting go of the pain and embracing your fabulous future. You can start your journey now.
